Facebook Pages are dead. Long live Facebook Pages. What has changed is how I use Facebook Pages and how I encourage others to use their Facebook Pages. I am not getting into too much technical detail here. THis is more an “above the line” WHY you should be on Facebook article
Your customers are on Facebook – The most obvious reason for you having a Facebook Page is purely numbers driven. Facebook has more than 2 billion monthly active users as of June 2017. Two Billion People are on Facebook. In Australia more than half the Australian population has a Facebook Account
Facebook Ads are incredibly cost effective – The “death” of Facebook Pages was heralded by those who did not want to pay for Facebook Advertising. Facebook Ads are incredibly cost-effective if implemented correctly.
Facebook Ads are incredibly well targeted – There are so many targeting options available to you on Facebook. You can target people based on their demographics, where they are located, what they are interested in and also other behaviours.
Facebook Insights gives you a bundle of easy to understand and useful data – Facebook Insights are great. They tell you how many people are seeing your post, how people are interacting with your post. They tell you who is interacting with your posts. This gives you a plethora of information that you can use to create more content and better targeted ads.
You can drive traffic to your website – Facebook can be a great way to drive traffic to your website. If you put links in your posts, if you boost these posts, you can then drive massive traffic to your website.
People use Facebook like a Search Engine – Whilst not quite Google, Social Media Platforms are being used more like Search Engines – especially on mobile devices. You need to make sure that you fill in all of the information on a Facebook Page that users might find useful – address, website, opening hours and phone number.
You can see how your competition is doing on Facebook – Facebook gives you the ability to spy on your Competitors. You can benchmark yourself against your competitors and see how your tracking compared with them.
Facebook Organic Reach isn’t what it used to be (although there are some things you can do to boost this reach.) This does not herald the end of the Facebook Page though as I have outlined above. There are 2 billion people on Facebook. You should be there too.
