Between Christmas and New Year our family spent a week on the Disney Wonder Cruise Ship – a trip from Sydney to Noumea and back again (side note if you are a Disney mad family I highly recommend Disney Cruises.)
As it’s still School Holidays for Angus (at the time of writing) it has been a soft start to the year but I am now fully back on board – I’m fully back into the swing of things.
I spent some time over the break “touching grass” disconnecting and have come back excited to dive into 2024 with some ambitious goals for the year:
Growing my network & deepen relationships – I am in BNI, I am in Rotary and I have my own local networking group in my local community. I also love to meet new people online (especially through LinkedIn.) I am interested in growing my network I 2024 but also deepening relationships with everyone I know – as they say your network is your net worth. I am looking at more connections online and more real world catch ups. I also want to grow the membership of my BNI Chapter and my Rotary Club (I am working towards a world where my day is filled with coffee and meal meetings and everything else is either automated or outsourced.)
Building my platform – I am a weird person that likes public speaking. I like being up on stage and I want to do more of it in 2024. My areas of interest/expertise are primarily tech focussed or business networking focussed. Helping others achieve more with their tech – I know that if others are successful then I am successful. I have spent 20 years in the telecommunications industry supporting businesses with their telecommunications needs. Tech has changed so much over that time and recent innovations should be embraced by businesses. It’s my desire to help businesses embrace new tech like AI and AR whilst ensuring they also stay safe with robust cybersecurity measure in place.
Play more games – spend more time in Roblox, Fortnite and using my MetaQuest 3. It’s “work” I swear. In 2010 I have a keynote presentation on the metaverse. I did this within the metaverse Second Life. Investment continues to grow in the metaverse and it will be a core focus for me in 2024 and beyond.
I am also going to spend significantly more time “offline” this year. Whilst on the Cruise Ship I made a point of not connecting to the internet package – which meant no social media doom scrolling. I read 2 books and made some great plans with all this extra time in my day. I tend to do this more often.
